Born in Calcutta, India on 9 April 1940. Educated at Cambridge School, Delhi 1948-55; Zoology Department, Delhi University 1956-62; Senior Cambridge 1955; B.Sc. (Hons) 1960; M.Sc. 1962; Ph.D 1968; Post-doctorate, Delhi University, 1968-73.

Scientist-in-Charge, Head Entomology and Deputy Director, National Chemical Laboratory, Pune, 1974-2000; Member, Film Writers Association; Max-Planck Institut fur Biochemie, DAAD West Germany 1983, USA and UK 1985.

Awards/Honours: ICPPMSA Distinguished Achievement Award, 1998; Vice President, All India Association for Bioethics; Ex - Vice President, Indian Academy of Entomology.

Fellow: Maharashtra Academy of Sciences; Indian Society for Malaria and other Communicable Diseases; Indian Academy of Entomology.
