Born in Patiala, Punjab, India on 20 June 1955. Educated at Higher Secondary School, Chandigarh, 1968-71; Dairy Science College, NDRI, Karnal, 1971-79; B.Sc (Dairy-Husbandry). 1975; M.Sc. (Dairying, Animal Physiology) 1979; Ph.D. 1996 (Buffalo Cloning).

Scientist, 1986-94; Senior Scientist, 1994-2006, NDRI, Karnal; Principal Scientist, Animal Biotechnology, ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal, 2006-17; Consultant in India and abroad: In-vivo ETT in cattle & Buffalo; IVM-IVF in Buffalo & cattle; Buffalo Cloning. Provided consultancy to Bangladesh University.

Awards/Honours: Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Memorial Prize- Animal Science, 1995; Prof. Nils Lagerlof Memorial Award, 1997; Young Scientist Award, 1989; Dr. D. Sudaresan Memorial Award, 1990; ICAR award for Outstanding Interdisciplinary Team Research in Agricultural and Allied Sciences 2013-14.

Fellow: Indian Dairy Association, New Delhi; National Academy of Dairy Science, Karnal.
