Born in Sikhu, District Auraiya, U.P. on 9th September, 1968. Educated at Janta Inter College, Ajitmal, Auraiya, 1984-1987; Kanpur University, Kanpur, 1988-2000; B.Sc. (Ag.) 1990; M.Sc. (Ag.) 1992; Ph.D. (2000).

Assistant Professor (Plant Breeding and Genetics), College of Horticulture and Forestry, Central Agricultural University, Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh,2002-2010 and Senior Scientist (Plant Breeding) at Division of Genetics, ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, 2010-2016.

Awards/Honours: Dr. B.P. Pal Medal (2018); Best Scientist Award (2020); J.C. Bose Gold Medal (2023); Editor, Biotech Today-International Journal of Biological Sciences, 2021 to date.
