Born in Muvattupuzha, Kerala, India on 14 April 1942. Educated at Government Higher Secondary School, Muvattupuzha, Kerala, 1954-58; B.Sc., Nirmala College, Muvattupuzha, 1958-62; M.Sc. University College, Trivandrum, 1962-64; Ph.D. University of Kerala, 1973 and D.Sc. (Hc. CIFE Mumbai); Post Doctoral Research, Tropical Products Institute, London, 1984, 85, 86.

Research Areas: Biochemistry, microbiology, fish processing technology, food science, drugs from marine organism, fish waste utilization.
