Born in Abohar, Punjab, India on 30 December 1954. Educated at S.A. Jain High School, Ambala City, 1968-70; D.A. College, Ambala City, 1970-72; Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, 1972-76, 1983-85; B.Tech. 1976; Ph.D. 1989.

Emeritus Scientist, Division of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, ICAR- Central Soil Salinity Research Institute, Karnal, 2017 to date.
