Educated at Government College, Mangalore 1967-70; Kasturba Medical College, Manipal 1970-73; Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore 1973-77; Mysore University, 1977-79; Ph.D. 1979; Post Doctoral fellow, University of Maryland, USA 1992; Alexander von Humboldt Fellow, University of Wurzburg, Germany, 1991-92.
