Born in Kharsoli, Nagpur, Maharashtra on 24 January 1945. Educated at SSC Municipal High School, Mowar (M.S.), Govt. Agriculture College, Nagpur, 1962; Nagpur University, 1964-68; Indian Agricultural Research Institute, 1968-73.

Assistant Entomologist, 1973-74, Assistant Professor, 1973-75, Associate Professor, 1975-81, Sr. Insect Toxicologist, 1981, Professor of Entomology, 1981-85, and Professor & Officiating Head, 1985-95, Marathwada Agricultural University, Parbhani; Director, National Centre for Integrated Pest Management, New Delhi, 1995-99; Vice-Chancellor, Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth, Dapoli, 1999-2000; Vice-Chancellor, Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri, 1999-2004; Vice-Chancellor, Central Agricultural University, Imphal, 2004-2014.
