Born in Gujarat, India on 25 January 1942. Educated at Govt. High School, Ludhiana, 1953-57; Govt. Agriculture and Research Institute, Ludhiana, 1957-61; College of Agriculture, Punjab Agricultural University, 1963-65; B.Sc. 1961; M.Sc. 1965; Ph.D. 1974; UNDP-FAO Fellowship, 1989.

Chemical Inspector, Department of Agriculture, Punjab State 1961-63; Research Assistant, 1965-74, Assistant Soil Scientist 1974-80, & Soil Scientist 1980-88, Soils Department, Officer Incharge All India coordinated Soil Test Crop Response Correlation ICAR Project 1980-89, and Sr. Soil Scientist UNDP Project 1988-2002, Punjab Agricultural University; Member Sub-Committee on Phosphate Fertilizers, 1985-87, 89-91 & mixed fertilizers, 2000-2002, Bureau of Indian Standards Institute, New Delhi.

Fellow: Indian Society for Nuclear Techniques in Agriculture & Biology.
