Born in Nankana Sahib (now in Pakistan) on 20 June 1945. Educated at Government Higher Secondary School, Gharaunda, Karnal, 1961; PAU, Ludhiana 1961-66; PAU, Hisar 1966-68; HAU, Hisar 1973-78: B.Sc. 1966; M.Sc. 1968; Ph.D. 1978.

Assistant Prof./Lecturer, 1968-80, Associate Professor/Scientist, 1980-88, and Professor of Animal Nutrition, 1988-2005, HAU, Hisar.

Awards/Honours: CSIR Research Fellowship, 1973; Dr. V.D. Kashyap Gold Medal, 1980; Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Memorial Award, 1987; Marie Curie Fellowship, 1994; ICAR Award for Team Research, 1997; DAAD Fellowship, 1999; ICAR Outstanding Teacher Award, 2004.

Fellow: Life Member, Animal Nutrition Society of India.
