Born in Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh, India on 16 November 1964. Educated at Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay SD Vidyalaya, Kanpur, 1976-78; Christ Church Inter College, Kanpur, 1978-80; Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture & Technology, 1981-86; B.Sc. (Ag & AH) 1984; M.Sc. (Ag) 1986; Ph.D. 1998.

Project Coordinator, ICAR- All India Coordinated Research Project on MULLaRP (Mungbean, Urdbean, Lentil, Lathyrus, Rajmash & Pea), ICAR- Indian Institute of Pulses Research, Kanpur, 2011 to date.

Scientist, 1989-98, ICAR- Indian Grassland & Fodder Research Institute, Jhansi, Senior Scientist, 1998-2006, and Principal Scientist, 2006-11, ICAR- Indian Institute of Pulses Research, Kanpur.
