Born in Chikkamagaluru, Karnataka, India on 20th May 1965. Pursued B.Sc. (Agri.) (1983-87), M.Sc. (Agri.) (1987–89) and Ph.D (1989-95) from University of Agricultural Sciencs (UAS), Bangalore. JSPS Post-Doctoral Fellow at National Agricultural Research Organisation, Tsukuba, Japan (2001-03).
