Educated at RC Middle School, Kottapalayam, 1965-72; Swami Vivekanada Vidyala Higher Secondary School, Vairichettipalyam, 1973-76; Nehru Memorial College, Puthanampatti, P.U.C. 1977; Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, B.E. (Ag.) and Ph.D., 1977-1982 and 1996; Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, M.Tech.,1984.

Subramaniam Award for Outstanding Teacher (ICAR), 2014; Team Award of Indian Society of Agricultural Engineers, New Delhi for Development of e-courses for B.Tech.
