2. Powers and duties of officers and employees

President

The President shall be the Chairman of the Council; he shall also be the Chairman of all General Meetings of the Academy. The President shall be in administrative charge of the Academy, its properties and affairs subject to the provisions of Statute 37. The President elected for a triennium shall continue to hold office till a President elected for the succeeding triennium assumes charge of his office.

The President of the Academy shall preside over the meetings of the Council. In the absence of the President, the Vice-President and in his/her absence, the senior most member of the Council shall preside over the meeting.

The President of the Council shall have powers to invite any other persons to attend meeting of the Council but such other persons shall not be entitled to vote at the meetings.

`All disputed questions at meetings of the Council shall be determined by vote - each member having one vote. In case of a tie, the President shall have a casting vote.

Vice Presidents

They shall exercise such powers as may from time to time be delegated to them either by the President or by the Council.

Secretaries

The Secretary shall be the Chief Executive Officer of the Society. He shall, in particular:

(a) Prepare and maintain a correct and up to date register of the members of the Academy.

(b) Conduct correspondence of the Academy.

(c) Maintain records.

(d) Call meetings in accordance with the bye-laws of the Academy.

(e) Keep minutes of all meetings.

(f) Exercise, in accordance with the wishes of the Executive Committee general supervision over the affairs of the Academy.

 Treasurer

The Treasurer shall be responsible for the collections of all dues and shall keep true and accurate accounts of all receipts and expenditure and all assets and liabilities. The Treasurer shall deposit all moneys received in account maintained at a scheduled bank.

Editors

The Editor shall be responsible for bringing out publications of the Academy.

Executive Director

The Executive Secretary is the Executive Officer of the Secretariat who maintains records of proceedings and provides necessary inputs to the elected executives on various matters of functioning of the Academy. He serves as Facilitator and Chief Administrative Officer of the Academy. Apart from his/her regular responsibilities of implementing decisions of the Executive Council/General Body, his/her job is servicing management bodies, co-coordination and interaction with the Fellowship, helping organizing consultations – seminars: workshops: Congresses etc, compliance with statutory requirement etc. of the Academy establishment. He/She is also required to handle resource management aspects of the Academy - finance, personnel and infrastructure.

The Executive Secretary is assisted by Accounts Officer and Secretariat Staff in day-to-day affairs of the Academy.
